Prohibited Books and Twin Falls School District Policies

I don’t think banning books is a good idea. And if you take a closer look at some of the banned books, you might be surprised. I don’t understand any of them. But the Twin Falls School District has explained to me how the books work in the classrooms of every Twin Falls school.

Banning a book is when a private person, government official, or organization removes books from the shelves of libraries or bookstores based on information.

This is a list of banned books. This does not mean that these books are banned in the Twin Falls School District. Some of them may be in classes at appropriate schools of the ages.

An Amazing List of Banned Books

The Diary of Anne Frank is on the list of banned books. I think this book is one of the most important things that everyone should read. There is not a single person in this world who has not read that book because it is powerful. Those who do not know the history of the past are condemned to repeat it.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a comedy, about burning and binding books. I know it’s one of my favorite books of all time. The government came, took books, and burned them. No one else is allowed to read it. It’s ironic that it’s on the banned book list.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a classic. Again, one of my favorite books of all time. The book is very scary and touching. Fights without love, trying to hold on to the past, and wealth. The desire for large parties and expansion is something that one can easily grasp. Dreams can be hard to come true, especially in this book.

Kill A Mockingbird by Lee Harper is another classic and I don’t know if it should be banned. It emphasizes the struggles that actually occurred during the rise of racism in the United States. Stories like this are real and it’s important to know the history.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou I think this is a very powerful book about racism and the history behind it. This book shows the horrors of racism created at a time when it compares to lives and destroys them. It’s a good story that people need to know.

Catcher In The Rye is a wonderful novel by JD Salinger. I have no idea what the argument is about unless it’s because the way things are is so important. This is a coming-of-age story, and it may be something other young people feel.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, aside from my personal opinion, the writing is terrible, there is no reason why this book should be banned. Many young people will find and enjoy this book series. It is an emotional love story that will make people want to be hooked. There is nothing wrong with thinking.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a new generation favorite. The series is good and makes young people think, is this real? I don’t know why this series is banned.

The Twin Falls School District’s policy on books is prohibited

Therefore, each librarian at each school selects the books to go on their shelves. Librarians know what information is appropriate for the age group they are targeting. Finding Catcher In The Rye going on in a classroom at Bickel Elementary is almost impossible, but it is in classrooms at Twin Falls High School. School district librarians are open to hearing from parents about information in their classrooms and haven’t had a challenge in decades. Librarians know what goes on in the classrooms for the years they serve.

Parents can check out libraries

If a parent is concerned about the books on the shelves of the library their children attend, they can contact the school and find out what is being offered. Parents have full rights to access educational materials available to students, including the library.

If you are offended by any of the content, the school district will respond in accordance with posted policies. Librarians work hard to keep new and updated books on their shelves. As a parent, you always have a voice.
